Omaha Hi-Lo Calculator

Calculate four-card Omaha Hi-Lo 8-or-Better outcomes with separate high, low, and total-pot shares. The Omaha Hi-Lo calculator evaluates each side independently under the same strict two-hole plus three-board requirement.

What qualifies for the low half

A qualifying low contains five distinct ranks no higher than eight, with ace counted as one. Straights and flushes do not disqualify it, while any paired rank does. The wheel 5-4-3-2-A is best. A board needs at least three distinct low ranks before any player can construct a legal low.

High and low may select different pairs from the four hole cards and different triples from the board. Each selection still uses 2+3. The engine never reuses a high-hand shortcut to decide the low key.

Split pots, scoops, and quarters

When a low qualifies, high winners share one half and low winners share the other. One player winning both halves records a split-pot scoop. A player who only ties the low with one opponent receives one quarter; a player who wins high and shares low receives three quarters.

If nobody qualifies low, high winners divide the whole pot. The report labels a no-low full-pot win separately from a scoop because those paths have different strategic meanings even though a sole winner’s total share is one.

Exact and simulated Hi-Lo equity

Fixed postflop states are enumerated when the evaluation estimate fits. Every completed board calculates both high and low, settles the pot, and adds fractional shares. Preflop or random hands switch to reproducible Monte Carlo, with a visible seed and iteration count.

Total-pot equity equals accumulated high share plus accumulated low share. The Omaha Hi-Lo calculator also exposes high wins and ties, low qualification frequency, low wins and ties, scoop, quarter, three-quarter, and no-share frequencies.

Local educational scope

The worker runs entirely in this browser and can continue offline after assets load. It does not read a poker client, upload a hand, or consult an external service. Old requests are ignored after cards change.

Equity summarizes the documented cards and rules, not betting action, future luck, or a recommended wager. Confirm any room-specific procedures separately.

Worked examples

Different cards for each half

Give a player A-2 plus a strong high pair. On a mixed board, the low result can highlight A-2 while the high result selects the pair, each with its own board triple.

No qualifying board

Use a board with only two distinct ranks eight or lower. The low half disappears and the best high hand receives or shares the full pot.

Frequently asked questions

What qualifies as an 8-or-Better low?

Five distinct ranks must all be eight or lower, with ace low; straights and flushes are ignored for low.

Can high and low use different hole cards?

Yes. They are evaluated independently, but each must use exactly two hole and three board cards.

What happens when no low qualifies?

The high winner or tied high winners divide the entire pot.

What does quartered mean?

A player receives 0.25 of the total pot, commonly by tying the low half while receiving no high share.

How is total pot equity calculated?

Each run adds the player’s high share and low share; their average over all runs is total-pot equity.
